New Fair Work Ombudsman welcomed by the Australian Chamber

22 Jun 2018 |

“The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry congratulates Sandra Parker PSM, on her appointment as Australia’s new Fair Work Ombudsman”, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO, James Pearson, said today.

“This is an important appointment, as the Fair Work Ombudsman is one of the world’s most powerful and effective labour law compliance and enforcement bodies.

“Its work impacts on employers and employees throughout Australia – particularly in small business.

“Australia’s workplace relations laws are complex.

“Clear information and education is essential to complement the important work of the Fair Work Ombudsman team in inspection and enforcement.

“Representatives across the Australian Chamber network have worked extensively with Ms Parker for many years, on both Australian and international workplace relations issues,” Mr Pearson said.

“Ms Parker brings to her new role significant experience across government, a deep understanding of our workplace relations system and an ability to work effectively with all users of the system.

“She is well placed to build on the work of the outgoing Ombudsman, Natalie James, who successfully implemented a significant expansion of Australia’s employment inspection and compliance services, and led a transparent, engaged and responsive organisation.

“The Chamber and its members thank Ms James for her work and her readiness to engage effectively with employers and their representatives.”
