New facts expose false claims from big unions on how Australians work

“New data released today exposes false claims by big unions about how Australians work,” Australian Chamber CEO, James Pearson, said in response to the latest Characteristics of Employment Survey released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Mr Pearson said that “today’s data shows:
- Wages are growing. Median weekly earnings are up 4.6% from last year – well in excess of inflation.
- Casual Employment has remained steady for more than two decades, at roughly 25% of employed Australians.
- Labour Hire is stable at around 2%.
- Independent Contracting has steadily declined across the past three years.”
“It is time for the big unions to stop distorting facts to fuel their scare campaign and advance their self-interest.”
