Business welcomes new Ministry

The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the country’s largest business group, has today welcomed the announcement of the new Ministry and acknowledges the early action taken by the Prime Minister to shift the focus back on constructive policy and positive outcomes.

“Being also Australia’s largest voice for small business, the Australian Chamber, in particular, welcomes the return of Small Business, now to be held by Michaelia Cash, and Workplace Relations with Kelly O’Dwyer to the new Cabinet,” Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Acting CEO, Jenny Lambert, said.

“It is also pleasing to see that there has been a response to our recent calls for migration policy to be seen as part of a broader discussion about population, with the previous Minister responsible for migration, Alan Tudge, now with population within his portfolio.

“We also congratulate Karen Andrews and Angus Taylor on their elevation to Cabinet and look forward to continuing to work with them in the industry and energy portfolios.

“Now that the Ministry has been announced, we reinforce our clear message that it is time to put policies ahead of politicking, and that the Federal Government gets on with the job of providing certainty for the business community and creates an environment for long-term growth for the benefit of all Australians.”
