Australian Chamber welcomes national inquiry into sexual harassment in Australian workplaces

20 Jun 2018 |

The Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry welcomes the announcement today by the Australian Human Rights Commission of a national inquiry into workplace sexual harassment.

“Sexual harassment is unacceptable in the workplace, and many businesses are showing leadership in this area,” Australian Chamber CEO, James Pearson, said today

“High profile cases and initiatives such as the #MeToo movement are powerful reminders there is more to be done, both in the workplace and in society at large.

“This inquiry should provide an opportunity to understand the prevalence, nature, reporting, and drivers of this issue and promote good practices.

“We look forward to participating in the inquiry and to renewed momentum to ensure that Australians are free from sexual harassment in their workplaces, across all Australian businesses.”
