Australian Chamber welcomes Labor small business policy

Labor’s small business policy released yesterday is welcome recognition of the importance of small business to jobs and the economy, Australia’s largest voice for small business, the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said today.
“Coming out early with a strong policy statement that reinforces the contribution of small business, sends an encouraging signal to the small business community that Labor is responsive to their needs,” Australian Chamber CEO, James Pearson, said.
“We are pleased the Labor Party will ensure small business is represented at the Cabinet table, if elected, and welcome Labor’s recommitment to promises made on tax cuts for businesses under $50 million turnover and the Australian Investment Guarantee, which allows businesses to immediately deduct 20 percent of assets worth over $20,000.”
“Our members in the automotive and manufacturing sectors will also be pleased to see positive policies for them. We know that the sharing of technical information about servicing has been an important issue for independent mechanics so it is good to see that their voice has been heard.”
“We look forward to seeing more positive policies for small business, particularly in the critical areas of skills, energy and workplace relations, from the major parties in the run-up to the election.”
