Activities & Achievements | April – June 2018

This quarter the Australian Chamber has spoken out for Australian business in policy debates nationally and internationally.

We advocated on tax reform, skills and training, migration and energy and pushed back on the ACTU’s ‘Change the Rules’ campaign against business.

We’ve been busy in our political engagement, hosting networking events and meetings with all sides of politics as we lobby for members.

Activities & Achievements | January – March 2018

The first quarter of 2018 has seen the Australian Chamber busy advocating on tax reform, skills and training, and energy, as well as leading the counter-argument to the ACTU’s campaigns against business.

We have been busy in our political engagement, hosting, networking and meeting with all sides of politics as we advocate for members.

We featured prominently in the media. This included my appearance on the ABC’s Q&A program, where I put the Australian Chamber’s case for business in debate with ACTU Secretary Sally McManus, prominent economist Chris Richardson, former AiG head Heather Ridout, and Crikey founder Stephen Mayne.

This quarter, the Australian Chamber has been building and extending its networks and ensuring Australian business has a place in important policy discussions.

We’ve made advocating for business on energy pricing a priority.

We launched ChamberEDGE, a digital platform for Chambers issuing Certificates of Origin to Australian exporters.

We proudly supported the 10th World Chambers Congress in Sydney in September and, through the Biz Better Together initiative, invited members to join us at this global event hosted by the NSW Business Chamber.

In the final quarter for 2016 the Australian Chamber hosted several major events to connect our members with leading figures in business, politics, government and media.

In September 2016 the Australian Chamber sought to put into action the policies in our Top 10 in 10 election manifesto to improve Australia’s international competitiveness. To achieve results on these policies we are continuing our public advocacy while seeking to connect with key members of parliament.

The Australian Chamber welcomed James Pearson as Chief Executive Officer in the second quarter of 2016.

Activities & Achievements | January – March 2016

Kate Carnell departed as CEO after nearly two years with the Australian Chamber. The Board appointed Jenny Lambert to serve as Acting CEO, while they carried out a recruitment process to select a permanent replacement. James Pearson has been appointed as the Australian Chamber’s new CEO, starting in April.

Activities & Achievements | October – December 2015

The Australian Chamber took a leading role in public policy debate in the last quarter of 2015.

We hosted Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at our Business Leaders’ Annual Dinner, in where he addressed more than 360 members, sponsors, parliamentarians and other guests on Australia’s future prosperity.

The third quarter of 2015 saw Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry launch it’s new corporate identity, reflecting our status as an organisation that is dynamic, innovative and focused on the future.

The second quarter of 2015 was a busy three months for the Australian Chamber. We hosted the Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, at a business lunch to discuss the state of the economy and hosted the Treasurer, Joe Hockey.
