Video conference with the Hon Paul Fletcher MP Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts

Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety & the Arts, Paul Fletcher said the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) has released a draft mandatory code of conduct to address bargaining power imbalances between digital platforms & media companies for four weeks of public consultation. This follows the Government’s recent announcement that the ACCC had been directed to develop a mandatory code of conduct.

The development of the code of conduct is part of the Government’s response to the ACCC’s Digital Platforms Inquiry final report to promote competition, enhance consumer protection & support a sustainable Australian media landscape in the digital age.

Minister Fletcher addressed in the session the latest developments in digital infrastructure and cyber safety, along with the recent Federal Government announcements to financially support Australia’s arts sector and the screen industry to generate Australian jobs.
